I just got a reply from a representative at the Church History Library that John Brown sent a letter to Brigham Young on 12 Sep 1868, reporting that James Hooper had been baptized. As soon as I get a copy of the letter, I will post it.
I enjoyed the posts and info on James Hooper. My earliest known ancestor Wesley Gordon Hooper(1817-1854) lies in the same McClure Swick cemetery that Abraham Hooper's son and Civil War veteran William B. Hooper is in. My direct line lived in Knox county Indiana from roughly 1838 until 1950. Abraham Hooper(1783-1842) was most likely my ancestor's uncle. I will try to check my papers to see if there is a record of where Abraham Hooper's wife Sarah Fitzpatrick is buried.
